Volunteer Wall Design

This was a fun project that took around 4 months from start to finish. The wall design specifications are 70 feet long by 10 feet tall. Included in the design are custom die-cut for leaf shaped whiteboards. Two 60 inch flatscreen TVs to display slideshows. A custom die-cut for counties map. I designed the wall in 10:1 scale ratio. Layout and proofs designed in InDesign. InDesign file then converted to smart object PSDs for final PDF output. Everyone happy with final result. All is good!

Healthy Harvest Mobile Market – Advertising Design, Logo Design, Website Design, Hosting

I recently had the honor to design the truck wrap, trailer wrap, logo, marketing collateral, t-shirt and website for the Healthy Harvest Mobile Market. This is a great program bringing fresh food to people who don’t have convenient access to a grocery store. The design came together over the course of a few months. There were many moving parts to this project and it was a quick turnaround needed for a specific launch date. Here are some pictures of the truck and trailer on the first public launch outside of Paul Brown Stadium. Also included the artwork for the t-shirts and design assets used throughout all the marketing collateral.

Hogs vs Hunger – Advertising Design, Website Design, Logo Design & Hosting

This was a great opportunity to design the new logo and website for Hogs vs. Hunger. The idea was to design an identity that best reflected a motorcycle rally. The logo has a little grunge to it and incorporated the oval shape and the fork from the Freestore Foodbank logo. The front of the motorcycle is implied with the tire and handlebars, using the Freestore Foodbank logo as the headlight. The wings were added for the Harley-Davidson reference and the banners for a “Sons of Anarchy” look and feel. Vehicle Wrap for Freestore Foodbank – Advertising Design

I had the task to wrap a 2008 Honda Fit. This was a fun project that went through multiple design concepts. I also was taught a refresher course that the customer is always right and I need to make sure the client is on-board with a concept prior to spending too much time on it. Here are a few design concepts this project went through to get final approval. Continue reading Vehicle Wrap for Freestore Foodbank – Advertising Design

Chicago Cubs Season Tickets Design – 2011, 2012, 2013 – Advertising Design & Logo Design

I would say one of the coolest projects I got to work on was the Chicago Cubs Season Tickets. For three years, I got the opportunity to be the art director at EMI and design these fun and exciting items for the Chicago Cubs. The process of the design involved many factors other than strategy and design, including package design, variable printing, prepress operation, color correction, select photo, textures and font selection to name a few. My season ticket designs also carried over into many Wrigley Field projects for a seamless experience for Cubs fans that year. Basically, the season tickets played a big part of what the Cubs marketing looked like for three year in a row.

Gutter Champ – Advertising Design & Logo Design

One day I was approached by a friend about designing a logo for one of his clients starting up a new gutter company. The company was in the process of getting everything together to launch and needed someone capable of designing a logo that best represents their vision. I met with the client to learn more about what they were thinking the logo looked like and the reason behind the idea. The clientgc_mediakit_4-19 was a big fan of boxing and the name for his new business was Gutter Champ. He specifically asked for one concept to be a belt shape similar to a championship belt in boxing with the name prominent and the unique shape of their gutter profile. This was one of the selling points, the patent style guard to their gutters.

Wrigley Field – Banners and Signage

Over three years working closely with the Chicago Cubs on their official publication, I was also given the opportunity to design many banners and signage for Wrigley Field. The concourse banners and marquee banners were a big part of the opening day marketing campaign and seen by millions of baseball fans. I have not been to Wrigley Field in a few years, but I am assuming that some of my wall signage is still a part of the Wrigley Field experience. Here is the Wrigley Field banners and signage gallery of my previous work…

Chicago Cubs – Season Tickets

I got the opportunity to design and produce the 2011, 2012 and 2013 Chicago Cubs Season Tickets. The ticket designs became that year’s theme for many items needed for the Wrigley Field experience. With game attendance averaging over 2.5 million each year, I am proud to say that over 7 million people have seen and held something I designed in their hand. It is rewarding to know that my designs will be collectors items for baseball fans one day. Here is the season ticket design gallery of my work…

Chicago Cubs Vine Line Magazine – Feature Article Designs

For over three seasons of Cubs baseball, I was responsible for over hundreds of creative services projects while also producing a monthly publication sent to subscribers, season ticket holders and sold on newstands and at Wrigley Field. My responsibilities for the publication included creative direction, art direction, content strategy collaboration, pagination, color correction, asset management, pre-press production, printer output, proofing and client services. When first taking over the publication as art director, we had a staff of eight working on the publication. It was soon reduced to half the following year, with no slowing down. At times, there were a few Vine Line magazines where the managing editor and myself produced from start to finish 95% of the magazine. The expectations were high and the quality of a product representing a world-wide brand had to be there.

I have designed over 50 feature articles with opening spreads as art director of Vine Line Magazine. We always tried to dedicate an opening spread with Cubs supplied photography, player selects from the managing editor and my design concept, layout and typography as art director. There were many of hours going through photos, color correction, fine-tuning photos and developing a concept that works with the managing editors vision and staying true to the Chicago Cubs marketing strategy. Here is the Vine Line feature article gallery of my work throughout the years…
